Euphemisms for terrorist

Reader comment on item: [Beslan Atrocity:] They're Terrorists - Not Activists

Submitted by Bob Alexander (United States), Sep 7, 2004 at 17:29

Dear Dr. Pipes -- As a journalist I understand your exasperation with this mania for disguising unpleasant facts and the obvious. Thanks for taking the trouble of listing all the subterfuges.

Have you ever asked yourself if the appetite for all this self-deception doesn't stem from the fact that Americans are trying to maintain their belief in their historic role as the Arsenal of Democracy in the face of their knowledge that our current leaders are in power only because they corrupted the U.S. Supreme Court into putting them there despite the well-known fact that they had lost the national election?

Add to that the fact that they not only continue to get away with that thinly disguised seizure of power, but are actually leading in their effort to put a further tainted stamp of approval on their original crime.
