Turkey will continue to rise in power and regional dominance. They're turning Eastward. I believe their daliances with the EU and the West are waning - as is the Sunni/Persian Gulf control over Dar-Al-Islam.

Turkey has ethnic ties across Asia to Western China. They will strengthen their economic ties with all of the Turkic nations.

Turkey has been positioning itself as a regional mediator and peacemaker. They will continue in this role. They also have one of - if not the - largest military in the region.

Turkey will turn Islamist. It's in the process of doing so now. What the makeup of a majority of the nation is, is irrelevant. Time and again history and nations prove that minorities can control nations and peoples. To believe that Turkey cannot turn Islamist because they're a secular nation and the populace won't go for it is the height of niavete'.

There are so many factors coming into play and will come into play. There will be a rebirth of the Ottoman Empire eventually, though it may not have that name. More likely it will be called the Union of Islamic Nations or somesuch and initially done so on an economic basis similar to the proto-creations of the EU.

I foresee a strong alliance with Iran in this Union/Empire, as the power of the Shiites rises usurping the Sunnis of Saudi Arabia. We will see a tentative collaboration of Sunnis and Shias that has never been seen before as the Shiites extricate themselves from under the bootheel of centuries of Sunni, Arab dominance.

There is a paradigm shift occuring in the Middle East, and the economic turbulence of the EU and the USA as well as the convulsions that Iran is having - as well as the problems of Russia and China - are all positively affecting the future of Turkey.

Turkey will turn Islamist, and that will not bode well for the world.

One need only look thru the lens of the Bible and it is plain to see what the future holds.
