Good article - Crisis in Turkey

Dear Daniel

This is a good article and timely of course. One could perhaps take issue with the notion of 'traditional secularism' - in terms of Ottoman/Turkish history its not a very long tradition. Also the generals have not always covered themselves in glory and one could argue that they could have adopted a smarter approach to the rise of Islamist ideology. Thirdly, your take on Turkey's government seems somewhat at odds with steps Turkey has taken to try to persuade various EU countries that they should let Turkey into the club. It will be interesting to see how the Turkish judiciary handles this case.
