Muslim DV has characteristics of HK which blur the distinctions. The absolute male dominance and right to virtually unlimited retribution for disobedience or disrespect elevate internal and social justifications for MDV (Muslim Domestic Violence) to a form of HK almost automatically. In a sense, it works somewhat the other way, too; the incidence of HK against males is so close as to be indistinguishable from 0%.

It would also surprise me if any measurable incidence of pure DV amongst Muslims could be found.

The bottom line seems to be that internal and societal restraints against violence against women in Islam appear to be flimsy and token only.
