Reader comment on item: Bridges TV, a Wife's Beheading, and Honor Murder

Submitted by Richard B. (Canada), Feb 19, 2009 at 18:23

I absolutely cringe when I hear stories like these. I mean it's bad enough that someone has been butchered in cold blood. All the apologetics come out of the woodwork bleating about how terrible this is and how this HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ISLAM! Cue the violins! RobW is right. A culture based on adherence to the family tribe and friends - and not the family unit of a husband and wife - is one that cannot and will not progress. A couple of things stand out in this particular post:

1) The comments of DA Frank Sedita and Marcia Pappas.
2) The statements of employees of Bridges TV and the relatives of the victim.
3) Those who willfully diminish the role of Islam in this mess.

Mo Hassan will get his fair trial and get to keep his life, even if he is found guilty. Sadly, the same cannot be said of Aasiya.
