Muslim Bridges site: Man's right to divorce

Reader comment on item: Bridges TV, a Wife's Beheading, and Honor Murder

The website clearly states that is the man's right to divorce. Islamically, he can divorce her in a matter of 30 minutes without a lawyer and those pesky lawyer fees. Women don't have this right due to their emotional makeup ---you know, those silly women who get upset over being beaten and whine to the courts.

Muslims always forget to mention that for a woman to divorce, she forfeits all financial support, must prove her reasons for divorce, and has to face a culture that makes it a matter of pride that men cannot accept. So, if she was in an Islamic country, she would have to show some nice colour photos to back up the physical abuse and pray for a judge who thought it was cruel. Meanwhile, while waiting for her to divorce she would have to live with him, because it would be "disobedient" to leave him while married.

Of course, living in the US meant that she had rights----rights I am sure this abusive man found infuriating. In this case I don't know if I could classify it an "honor crime" since he'd already been divorced twice, had a reputation for being very abusive, and knew she would get alimony. My educated guess is this man was just furious she had rights. A blow to his sensitive ego.
