The Oslo sham.

Reader comment on item: [The Road Map:] Learning from Oslo

Submitted by Alexander M. Berlin (Canada), Jun 10, 2003 at 22:07

I recall Arafat's speech on Jordanian TV. Whatever Arafat is, at least he was quite honest then about his true intentions regarding the so-called *Oslo Peace Initiative*.

*Oslo* was not a sham. *Oslo* was initiated by an honest, idealistic people who truly believed in peace and co-existence and gave much of their time and effort to bring peace to this blood drenched sliver of real estate.

The SHAM was Arafat. His speeches (for non-Arabs), his pronouncements, his play acting, the hand shakes on the White House Lawn and all the rest of this pathetic farce. It was all a lie.

So I ask what I have asked many times before. Is this what he was given the Nobel Prize for? True, for a while he was able to bamboozle most everybody. How this happened is a mystery. Or perhaps not. Perhaps most everybody wanted to be bamboozled.

But Arafat's real intentions began to be visible quite early. He received the prize NOT FOR PLAYING A LEADING PART IN A HISTORIC PEACE PROCESS, but for being a very gifted and successful liar and cheater, a top notch con-man. Also a legalized mass murderer.

On the other hand, to sell oneself as being worthy of a Nobel Prize, on a completely fraudulent foundation, is a no mean achievement. Perhaps such an achievement is worth a Nobel prize. Obviously it does.
