Hard to be optimisticReader comment on item: [The Road Map:] Learning from Oslo Submitted by D. Mendes (United States), Jun 10, 2003 at 15:16 Dear Mr. Pipes:Interesting article, but... Haaretz reports that Bush is already leaning hard on Sharon (and Mofaz). Sounds alot like Clinton's pressure on Netanyahu ( I paraphrase: We have a problem with Sharon; We can work with Abu Mazen, he is not capable of lies; (to Mofaz:) You will help the Palestinians, after all you destroyed their security apparatus etc.). Has Bush made the choice of getting in bed with Abu Mazen? Is this road map destined to be Israel paying the price for the US appeasing the Arabs and throwing Blair something? The US continues to have trouble learning the lessons of the past. I shudder to think how much heavier a price Israel will be forced to pay.
