Ms. Szell's fear

Dr Pipes, as always, thank you for your diligence. My main comments are to commenter Ms. Szell.

Ms. Szell, whoever told you that fear cannot be fought? Of course fear (and its byproducts, ignorance and hatred) can be fought and can be triumphed over. This is what we are doing in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Saudis would appear to be taking notice.

Also, you seem to be confused about Israel. Israel's first world status is not an accident. Its status has been achieved though democratic, moral and commercial processes available to one and all ... if one and all are willing to bravely embrace such ethics.

Perhaps as the Sauds look at Afghanistan and Iraq, they may choose to appraise their first world neighbor less hatefully and give first world principles serious thought.

Don't you find it interesting that Saudi-Arabia, for all its oil income, still has not achieved first world status? Instead, they have chosen to remain mired in ignorance.

How do you explain that, Ms. Szell?
