Reader comment on item: "24" and Hollywood's Discovery of Radical Islam

Submitted by Jaladhi (United States), Jan 7, 2005 at 11:43

Dr. Pipes:

I am encouraged to see that so many of your readers correctly understand Muslims for what they really are. I just hope that our policy makers read your columns and responses from the readers so that they better understand what kind of enemy we are fighting. You can't fight terrorism generically. You have to call it what it really is - "Muslim or Islamic" terrorism without the fear of offending some of our muslim citizens. If Muslims can call the followers of other religions as "non-believers" - aka "kafirs", and issue "fatwas" and declare "jihad" against anything/anybody they don't like, then we should not be afraid to call their terrorism towards the rest of the world as Muslim terrorism. Muslims can show their good intentions towards other religions by eliminating these hateful and offensive words forever from their sermons in their mosques.

Also, I would say its high time we delete the word "moderate Muslim" from our vocabulary as it is an oxymoron. There is no such thing as moderate Muslim. If they are true Muslims, they have to be radicals following every word of Quran.

Please keep up the good work as I don't see anybody else doing it.
