Mubarak's View of Gaza

Reader comment on item: How to Turn Gaza Over to Egypt

Submitted by Janusz Kowalik (United States), Feb 7, 2008 at 02:01

The idea of making Gaza a part of Egypt is reasonable and could solve many Middle East problems. On the other hand, it is not surprising that Mubarak is not enthusiastic about the idea. Gaza is a huge failure of self governing . It is impoverished and politically chaotic , potentially dangerous piece of land and ungovernable group of people.

Mubarak may assume that West will be at least partly funding Gaza as is.This is much better than getting responsibility for the troubled land and people. We should not be very surprised that Mubarak calls the idea a dream.
