Wishful OverthinkingReader comment on item: How to Turn Gaza Over to Egypt Submitted by Blackspeare (United States), Feb 7, 2008 at 13:17 Whether it's birds or Arabs, similar feathers flock together----yes, the Gazans would rather be administered by Egypt than Israel, but the history of the Middle East is that the Arabs Nations use the Stateless Palestinians as a foil against Israel and quite successful at that! There are more political and diplomatic reasons for Egypt to strongly resist such a move. The one that's been tossed around is the position of the Muslim Bretheren which is very much aligned with Hamas and would create additional problems for Mubarak and his son his soon to be successor. The other is more problematic----with Egypt in charge Hamas will continue to aim rockets at Sderot, but now egypt as a sovereign nation will have to take strong action and no way do they want that or a war with Israel. So we're back to the status quo and with a new US president not far off, the Palestinians as usual will look for a better deal with a new admiinistration.
