A Democrat for PipesReader comment on item: On Being Borked Submitted by Lawrence Winans (United States), Aug 26, 2003 at 08:25 It is with considerable pleasure that I learned of Daniel Pipes' appointment to the Institute of Peace, I only wish the appointment could have been to a more prominent policymaking position within the government.I only regret as a Democrat, is that Democrats led the opposition to his appointment. I attribute this to an excess of tolerance on the part of liberals today who somehow believe that tolerating those who would kill us is a mark of an open-minded person. Mr Pipes has been unfairly attacked as Anti-Muslim; having read many of his writings, I know that it is not true. In another era this sort of addled thinking would have lambasted antiNazism as being intolerant of German people. The Islamists are todays Nazis. I remain a Democrat for Pipes. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
