What a reliefReader comment on item: On Being Borked Submitted by Daphne Burdman (Israel), Aug 26, 2003 at 08:25 Dear Mr Pipes,I am sure that I am only one among the many, to whom the confirmation of your appointment, comes as a blessed relief. We understand that there is a crying need for authoritative, credible assessment of political Islam in the US (and worldwide), to counterbalance the unfortunate stance of Middle East academics and specialists in the USA, as so clearly pointed out by Martin Kramer. Unfortunately, here too in Israel, the rather few academics who have been aware of the dangers of militant Islam and have preached it since Sept 2000 (Oslo)have been criticised and have remained in the minority. Heartiest congratulations, and all good wishes for your continuing work. Sincerely, Daphne Burdman, M.D. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
