Thanks to President Bush for sparing us a full Senate debate on this routine sensible appointment of someone who knows a great deal about the subject matter to the US Institute of Peace. Mr. Pipes' amazing wealth of detailed current information will be available to explode many attempts to float vague nice-talk alibis and generalities on the Institute. He seems "soft on settlements" as I might phrase it, but his ability to bring in relevant detail in enormous breadth is without rival.
