At last!Reader comment on item: On Being Borked Submitted by Shahin Shadmer (United States), Aug 27, 2003 at 21:52 Congradulation Prof. Pipes. I am not surprised by those who have tried to distort your reputation by selecting quotes out of context or by trying to make you look like an enemy of Islam. As you demonstrated in your book "The Rushdie Affair," you showed how the regime in Tehran and other Middle Easterners distorted facts about the author and the West.Personally I can relate to that. For the past 300 years the mullahs in Iran have been doing this kind of work to brainwash the masses, and finally they succeeded in 1979. If the people in the West, especially the Europeans, take time and read the history of Iran since the arabs attacked her 1400 years ago, they will see that militant Islam has been destructive to the Iranian nation, and the appeasers in EU or the State Department have been killing the Iranian people indirectly by approving or doing nothing about the fascist regime in Tehran. Mr. Pipes with his knowledge of the Middle East knows exactly what I am talking about, and I hope that he will take my message to the White House that we have to confront the mullahs one of these days. Days of appeasment are over. Iran is building nuclear weapons at a maximum speed. Militant Islam, which has been ruling the Iranian people since 1979, has been spreading non-stop all around the world. During the 1980s, the Reagan administration did not do anything when Americans were killed by the mullahs in southern Lebanon. I hope President Bush is awake and will take the necessary steps to stop this terroristic regime in Tehran that has blood of thousands of people on its hands. Again, congradulation and God Bless.
