Scholarship, brillliant analysis and a humane and thoughtful spirit are the descriptives of your lifelong work. Never before have I seen or had the ability to share in the scholarship you offered to anyone willing to read the articles you and other academics wrote.

In your articles and in the writings of others that you shared with your supporters there were no invectives or polemics. We could always depend on a wonderful and disspassionate truth which emerged from your work.

There is a light at the end of this dark and violent tunnel and its name is Dr. Daniel Pipes.

Your appointment is momentous for the country and a victory for every liberal democratic nation that seeks a better world.
