A word of advice

Reader comment on item: [Symposium:] Why Does the World Hate America?
in response to reader comment: Just the facts maam.

If I remember correctly, you're 17 (well, maybe 18 by now) and I would really like to tell you that you're still young and have a lot to learn about the world... then I remember I'm 18 myself. So let me give you this advice, from one teenager that doesn't like the rap culture to another: a little dignity never hurt anyone, you know!

The rap culture is all about bragging about everything (Yo, y'all can't wake up like me, for example). You do exactly the same thing (No country in the world can be as perfect as mine). Look, it's alright to love your country but from the moment you start telling everyone that their country can't even begin to touch yours is plain arrogant. The reason why there are people in the world that hate America is because of people who act like that. I don't think they hate America, they hate those Americans that continually claim that they are the greatest in the world. What if the French start bragging about how perfect their country is in front of your face? I bet you'd be pretty annoyed too. This is what the rest of the world feels.

About the environment. Like it or not, accept it or not but it is changing. Maybe you haven't felt the effects yet in your part of the world -Bush Land- but I've noticed that the weather was still warm halfway november (and it never stays warm here 'till that long). We didn't really had a Fall this year (3 weeks in stead of 3 months) and this month has been way too hot for the time of the year.

There, I highly doubt my small collection of comments, including this one, had much of an effect but at least no one will blame me for not trying.
