Reader comment on item: [Symposium:] Why Does the World Hate America?
in response to reader comment: The American Myth

Submitted by McCutcheon (United States), Jan 24, 2007 at 22:59

Of course the United States has supressed the development of the Third world for 50 years, that is why the number of countries considered Third world has been shrinking for 50 years. Duh!

If you have a problem with Capitalism, then go to Cuba, North Korea, China, or Vietnam. The majority of the countries in the world practice Capitalism as an economic policy. I guess it doesn't matter to you that the world is wealthier and more economically strong than it has ever been. Oh, your numbers for the poverty level are wrong. As of 2005, 12% of the United States population is below the poverty level. The U.S. poverty level... which I can guarantee you more income than the poverty level of anyother nation on earth. So please, keep things in perspective.
