in response to reader comment: The American Myth

After living in many overseas countries, I have finally made my way to the United States to live. Supposedly the best country in the world to live the American Dream. Well after being here 5 months only and observing your customs, rules and regulations, my conclusion is the following.........Maybe the United States should do a little less interfering in the rest of the world and concentrate on fixing the problems in their own back yard.

For example...........your pay and working conditions are deplorable. I have been to third world countries that pay their workers better than this country. Or have they forgotten that the big execs who sit behind a desk all day doing nothing basically make the country what it is.......I think not. Its the average worker trying to make an honest living who is held back by their own government and big business......made to stay ignorant of the rest of the world and what is going on in it.

Your medical system is a joke..........so much of a joke, as fortunate as I am to have medical cover here, I am going to choose to go home to Australia to have my child. I wouldnt trust a doctor over here to deliver a pizza, let alone a baby.

Your government and giant food producers are killing you. Yes, thats right....the American public is slowly being poisoned by the food you are buying and eating. Its absolute garbage.......has no one here heard of fresh produce........without preservatives or additives or a shit load of sugar. Sugar is not a dietry requirement, its just a filler in cheap foods. When I buy peanut butter........I dont want 70 different kinds of artifical ingredients.........just peanuts and salt will do.

Dont get me started on the monstrous cars you drive and how fast you drive them. Its unneccesary to drive a car at 90 miles per hour, sitting on my bumper while your doing it. Why dont you just come in sit in my back seat.......we can have a nice chat that way. Is it any wonder that the Middle East hate the United States the way they do. Your dependence on foreign oil is driven by your incessant needs to drive bigger cars which most people wouldnt even take off road for the purpose in what they are meant for. Or use them to haul construction equipment from job site to job site. Most drivers I see are on their own in the car......terrorizing the rest of the drivers on the road.

Last of all, but not least......open your bloody eyes America.......there is a world out there bigger than whats in your own back yards. Just for a minute....shut your mouths, mind your own business and worry about your own people.........give them opportunities to earn a decent living, provide every person with medical insurance and care, feed your people some decent food instead of the muck that is on the supermarket shelves and educate your kids about the rest of the world. Encourage them to travel, learn about other cultures and just maybe then......you might start to live the American Dream.

For those of you who think I can take my opinions and go back to where I came from.......dont worry, I am doing just that.......back to the Land Down Under.......where women glow and men thunder. Where life is normal and a healthy balance between work and home life is not a luxury.....its the norm. I cant wait to get there.
