Why do we care if they hate us?

Reader comment on item: [Symposium:] Why Does the World Hate America?

The world should be wary of the United States, not because of our overwhelming military power, or our enormous wealth. They should be wary of the coming revolt against those that despise our way of life. That way of life resulted in the continued existence of Continental Europe through the sacrifices of Americans.

That revolt could result in our failure to come to the aid of those countries in their next time of great need......

I do not think that the vast majority of the worlds population hate our people or our way of life, it has instead been fueled by the idealogues running the governments of countries that no longer hold a relevant claim on any part of their former significant place in world policy. We are pressing to have all of our world detractors put in their place, through terrible economic and social sanctions that would require any of our true allies to stand with us or fall down into the disgusting pit that is represented by countries like Iran, Syria, Libya, France and Germany. It would be a gross miscalculation to think for even moment that we need any interaction, either economic or social with these governments or their citizens. For those countries and their citizens that do not understand that when we are hurt, we as Americans tend to hurt back! We can do it with our military, but we should do it by abandoning the Jackals that have fed on our citizens good will for four decades.
