Reader comment on item: [Symposium:] Why Does the World Hate America?
in response to reader comment: The Greatest Country in the Entire World

Submitted by L (United Kingdom), Feb 10, 2007 at 11:13

The World does not hate America- that is just a very paranoid and false perception. In fact it is embarressing that someone has made such a comment. We are all people with the same experiences and feelings, it would be incredibly ignorant to generalise an entire country. Anyone with more than half a brain cell would realise that America have done good and bad stuff, just like any other country.

However, it is also very narrow-minded to think that one country is 'greater' than the rest due to their larger ecomony. I am proud to be British but I would not resort to such childish behaviour to actualy point and laugh at a poorer country and say 'haha, our standard of life is better than yours'. Fact is, I would not treat an American any differently from anyone else. I would not think he/she is below me and nor would I think he/she is better than me.

May i suggest to anyone who hates Americans and those who think that they are better than someone because of their nationality to get a life.
