this is why america is hated.

Reader comment on item: [Symposium:] Why Does the World Hate America?

America is hated because our spirituality is in the gutter. Consumerism and materialsm and control is what america's true root is, and many eastern phylosophies (especially the ones that are most down to earth) preach that these things are the folly of man and that the true joys of life are in surender, choice and relationships with your family and fellow man. But the attitudes and actions created by capitalism are far from this vision, infact completely oposite. Greed and ego are worshipped while fear and isolation through selfishness spreads like wild fire. America in my opion is poisoning the world with its so called great system and everyone is emulating and creating civilizations of despotistic egoism and seperation amung humanity.

The so called freedoms we enjoy are not legal rights that any system can take or give to us, we are born with these rights, and in my opinion america is not the land of the free, its the land of oportunity to betray your fellow man and dominate him through intelectual manipulations. True freedom does not come with the oppression and enforcement of laws and forced systimatic conformity through the dominate structure of capitalism. We wage wars in the name of our selfish causes, millions die so that the rich can get richer. Yeah, maybe people thought america was such a great place a long time ago when we were first starting out, and there was some moral superiority, and oportunity to do things that would make you rich.

But for the enlightened, the money that comes from the acceptance of the system and its controls is merely an illusion, because the mere essence of what it takes to succeed is not a matter of loving compassion but of selfish domination of every other competitor around, businesses and indivudals. Our system is backwards in my opinion. Completely 100% backwards.
