Saudi Arabia and American interests

Reader comment on item: The Scandal of U.S.-Saudi Relations

Submitted by Avigdor Ben-Dov (Israel), Jan 10, 2003 at 02:34

American interests do not coincide with those of Saudi Arabia. The support America gives militarily to an oppressive and parochial regime is a scandal. Saudi supports terror both in the Middle East and elsewhere. The Muslim religion does not allow for any tolerance of other religions and is directly opposed to the Constitutional rights granted to US citizens. Jews are only the most obvious victims of hatred by Moslems of non-believers.

Your article show that greed and bribery are at the heart of the informal cooperation and odious behavior of leading American officials, especially after they "retire" from office. The oil companies had more to do with this then you think. Congress should act to correct this, but I , for one, do not think anything will happen to change unless the US decides to take over Saudi Arabia and end the sham of a "friendship" with an Arab absolute monarchy.

How many Saudis were involved in Sept. 11? That should say something. America better wake up quick.
