Reader comment on item: The Scandal of U.S.-Saudi Relations

Submitted by Michael David (Taiwan), Jan 5, 2004 at 21:41

Saudi Arabia's attitude towards non-muslims smacks of intolerance and just plain arrogance. It is a shame that Saudi is a party to the Geneva Convention but does not even have an iota of human rights. Chrisitanity and as a matter of fact all other religions should be allowed to be practised freely by expats at least within their own homes. It is not correct that the muttawa should arrest and torture people for doing so. Just look at amnesty.org website for examples of Saudian Arabian cruelty. The Saudi's will do well to learn their lesson from more cosmopolitan places like Bahrain, Dubai and Abu Dabi.

The Saudi's attitude is similar to that of the Taliban - atleast the Taliban allowed other religions to co-exist in their land....

I have been with muslims - and the vast majority are really nice, polite, kind and helpful people unlike the muslims in Saudi (atleast those running the land there).
