In response to your comments....

"Since when have people had to "reckon" with a religion?"

Since the Israelites, a nomadic warrior tribe, took the legends of their forefathers a little too seriously; to wit-----the battles in and around the Land of Canaan!

"I thought Islam was superior to all other religions and it was the true one. Why should perfection need a reformation?"

Oh, puleeeeeze, do we really need satire??!!

Religion is one thing, politics is another. But when you mix politics with religion----watch out. All religions have their extreme beliefs and it doesn't take long for a political entity to take advantage of that extremism or for extremists group to use their beliefs as a lever. On present course the Middle East is headed for a clash.

Iran is intent on reclaiming it's dominant position as the old Persian Empire and with nuclear weapons it will have clout! If anyone thinks Iran can be persuaded to give up the quest, they're living in La-La land! Whether Iran will become potently aggressive remains to be seen. During the cold war between the US and The USSR there was always talk of an inadvertant mistake that could launch the missles.

In the Middle East that threat is100 times what it was here. Remember 1967, Nasser did want to start the war, he wanted Israel to fire the first shot, boy did he miscalculate.
