Unlike most Westerners, President Bush understands that there are if fact two Islams.

First, there is the Islam of the Koran, which he rightfully refers to as a religion of peace. For more information about this Koran-based version of Islam, see www.submission.org. It is the Islam that requires its followers to study the Koran and ignore the Hadiths. It is the Hadiths, which are based mostly on Arabic tradition and not the Koran, that create the problems within Islam. It was this road (study the scripture and ignore the Chuch's interpretation) that led Christianity into the Reformation.

Then there is the Islam of modern Islamofacism. This is the Islam that has created the modern internationalterror problem. This form of Islam, like the pre-Reformation Catholic Church, only flourishes because its followers are illiterate, uneducated, and depend on their religious leaders to spoon-feed them their faith. This was the route that allowed the pre-Reformation Catholic Church to become so corrupt.

President Bush, as a Fundamentalist Protestant Christian, has a better understanding of this phenomenon than most. He understands what is happening within Islam, and he doesn't want to allienate the Islamic Luthers and Calvins who are trying to reform Islam.
