And no concomitant distinguishing between Christianity & Christianism?

Reader comment on item: Distinguishing between Islam and Islamism

Submitted by Judas Disney (United States), Mar 5, 2006 at 22:26

U.S. "Christianism" has become a political force, often fundamentalist in character as "all-or-nothing" as its Islamist counterpart. And U.S. Christianism is more concerned with identity and belonging to an exclusively-defined club than actually following the teachings of Jesus: Would Jesus be so amenable to Guns, Gay-hating, the Minutemen at the Mexican border, "Prosperity Theology," and all of the other positions of the U.S. Christian Right Wing?

Perhaps the criticism of "Islamism" would have more moral weight if the critics cast an equal scrutiny into the planks-in-the-eyes of all.
