I don't agree with that

Reader comment on item: Distinguishing between Islam and Islamism
in response to reader comment: shortcomings of islam

Submitted by Roqia, Sep 5, 2017 at 06:04

I have been a muslim for nearly 3 years. The praying and fasting is good for us spiritually, mentally and physically. Each Ramadan I work while I fast, lots of muslims do. It does not make me feel like I am nothing, in fact, it makes me feel more like something. It is not a shortcoming. It in fact it is an honor and privilege to worship my Creator in such a way that when i pray, i am humbled before Him and i know He is near me. Fasting is a cleansing for our bodies and a help to overcome all desires and habits that are not pleasing to Allah. It also strengthens our faith and builds our patience. We are kinder to people and all things Allah created. I have become a much better, person since i embraced Islam. And as for not being productive because i fast and pray...i am productive because i fast and pray. Jesus also fasted and prayed...at least that's what is written in the Bible. Anyway...all praise is due to Allah, Allah knows best...and we don't.
