Reader comment on item: [Israel's Gaza Withdrawal:] A Democracy Killing Itself

Submitted by john barcus (United States), Aug 22, 2005 at 17:51

i believe that israels withdrawal from gaza is trap by sharon. the world needs to see what and how the palestinians will rule themselves when they can no longer blame israel. it is his intent to allow the area to collapse into total anarchy and have the world see that the plo is a trojan horse.
how can you show others how terrible your neighbor is? you let them do what they do to everyone else! this is the idea. when the 3rd or 4th terriorist group comes to power in gaza, i believe sharon may even have the p.a. on his side. hamas will overthrow the p.a. in a manner of months. this will trigger a civil bloodletting immediately after the p.a. steals the election to be held early next year. gaza will be ruled by the law of the gun with no end in sight. no arab country will step in to stop this killing because to do so will portray that country as pro-israel.
israel will use this anarchy as an excuse to suspend west-bank transfers. the reasoning rightly will be ok'ed by the u.n. this strategy will allow israel to keep most of the west bank under it's control and have the plo and hamas kill themselves in the process. the losers in this case will be the ordinary palestinians who have some slim hope of leading normal lives. they will be killed in the hundreds until isael moves back into the gaza strip sends most of the remaining terrorist sinto exile and sets up a type of autonomous palestine state totally dependent on israel. the same type of system that syria has for lebanon.
