Democracy in itself is self defeating

Reader comment on item: [Israel's Gaza Withdrawal:] A Democracy Killing Itself

Evidently PM A. Sharon has changed, and possibly the majority is losing the will to fight. A Democracy is self defeating because it bends to the will of the people. As the people change, so does the government. People are Ego-centric, so change is usually self-centered. Self Centered-ness opposes unity, and lack of unity leads to defeat ("United we stand, divided we fall"). Lack of Unity IS a weakness. Israel has become divided and so has all of western civilization. The US lost the will to fight in Vietnam, and will one day lose the will to fight in the middle east. All of western civilization is demonstrating a lack of unity and the people Unified by Submitting to the "will of Allah and his Prophet" can see the power of their Unification and the Powerlessness of the west. A united one fourth of the population of the earth has a distinct advantage over the disintegrated three fourths of the population of the earth. Remember the Story of David and Goliath? We are deceived by our technological advantage.

Our lofty goal of replacing Saddam with a democracy in Iraq, failed to consider that Iraq has 27 million people, 98% of whom are Muslims. These people will select an Islamic theocracy as their form of Democracy. Some of the earth will be taken by conflict, and some will be penetrated by a fifth column. As we smugly talk about our "Roadmap to Peace", we seem to be oblivious to the Islamic "Roadmap to Peace" which has been in place for 1400 years, but has gained tremendous momentum in the last 90 years.
