Reader comment on item: [Israel's Gaza Withdrawal:] A Democracy Killing Itself

Submitted by C.Compton (United States), Aug 16, 2005 at 16:48

Short of a miracle, the future for Israel is already written - the Bible notwithstanding. Hamas has made it crystal clear it will use Gaza as a launchpad for terrorist activities ever closer to the heart of Israel. The Quassam will reach ever further into populated areas.

Even now, Hamas is rubbing their hands together with glee. Moreover, you can be sure that Hezbollah, al-Queda and all the other "friends" of Israel, ... will be joined in a new offensive to do what they do best.

As it was written so long ago, Israel's enemies will surround them. They will be mercilessly attacked. Even the Holy City will eventually be overrun.

This is perhaps the most bizarre domestic policy decision I have seen in my lifetime. I can only believe this macabre turn of events is prophesy fulfilled right before our eyes. And we have not seen anything yet!
Sharon? What have you done? As an American, I weep for you, Israel. May Yahweh have mercy on you. You're going to need it.
