All Islam is Flawed but even more so for those who blindly believe it literally

Reader comment on item: Identifying Moderate Muslims

Without even getting into all the passages regarding violence and peace in the Quoran. If you are a fundamentalist believer in Islam you are either caught in a circular argument of contradiction or are already choosing to ignore some contradictions in favour of the violent ones. So from the beginning Mohammed goes into a cave, meets a being who brings him the word of God. The people ask how do you know if it's a demon or Angel, his wife believes in him so she goes to the cave with him, has the being sit on her knees and lap and declares him an Angel. All good so far but in Islam a mans word is worth twice a woman's so why is she believed and he is not? And in Islam a man can control and beat his wife if she is disobedient so if she had said "no Mohammed you got it wrong this dude spouting all this talk of retribution, segregation, discrimination and violence is a demon" - she would have got a flogging or been killed (that was coincidentally also the pre-Islamic culture). So either Islam is an interpretable religion with elements that are cultural and therefore no longer relevant in modern society - just like Many other ancient religions or its fundamentally flawed from the start and therefore nothing more than one mans bid for power (and continually used for this ongoing purpose) that millions have fallen for.
