Abed, you are almost right. But the thing is, it's not Monotheism (there was plenty of evil committed by polytheists), it's not religion (atheists also did plenty of evil), it's humans that are inherently BRUTAL and horrible.

People have this inherent need to divide into "us" andf "them", then demonize, hate and fight each other. This is in the genes. The specific ideology used to divide is unimportant. Even those who profess being against all this and for peace are as a rule full of hatred, one only needs to discover against whom. (Just ask a leftist what he feels about conservatives.)

People are genetically designed to live in packs. People are like wolves. Worse than wolves, because wolves are honest, and people are not.

Nothing can be done about it. Except, maybe we can get somewhere if we at least accept all this, instead of endlessly trying to get things our way, believing that it will free the world of evil.
