Talking about the bloody history of Christianity gets us nowhere, and it's highly disingenuous of some people here to say that radical Muslim terrorists are only seeking revenge for colonialism and the Crusades ( to put it in a nutshell ).

The fact is that the West has learned from its mistakes in history; it has separated Church from State and built prosperous democracies where citizens have equal rights and many freedoms. Iraq was supposed to be a new dawn for the whole Middle East because unless it catches up with the West, or at least the Asian democracies, I see little hope of a change for the better.

( Yes, we know that civilisation began in Mesopotamia some 4000 years ago, but what have they achieved since the year 1500 ? )
