Reader comment on item: Identifying Moderate Muslims

Submitted by Vernon Richards (United States), Nov 23, 2004 at 17:41

The Qur'an is quite clear that lying to non-believers is permitted. Is is so much easier to lie than to catch the liar. We so desparatly want/need Muslim partners in the War on Terror. But where, exactly, are the represantitive 'majority' moderate Muslims?

Your citations, Mr. Pipes, describe a few thousand out of a body of billions, statistically insignificant, ...barely encouraging. ... If they are genuine (and the jury is still out), then they are simply misguided and in opposition to 'Real Islam'.

...Words from Islamists are worthless, or dangerous, no matter how badly we want them to be true. The only long-term solution is to assist former Muslims like Ali Sina (faithfreedom.org) in their efforts to educate their fellows.
