Adding to Romesh's argument on muslim scientists.Reader comment on item: Assessing Obama's Cairo Speech Submitted by Gunjan (United States), Jun 12, 2009 at 03:13 Dear Dr. Pipes: I want to extend Romesh's argument that muslim scientists have not had any significant contributions to science in the last 500 years. If there is indeed something very exclusive in Islamic thought that caused Muslims make great contributions to science in the ancient world, what is stopping them today? The truth of the matter is that if you spend a significant amount of your resources in unproductive activities (e.g. suppressing thought and expression, subjugating minorities, defending God when should be perfectly capable of defending Himself), the rate of your progress as a society will slow down. That is supremely apparent in the Islamic societies.
