Foolish Hope?

Reader comment on item: Assessing Obama's Cairo Speech

Submitted by John W. McGinley (United States), Jun 4, 2009 at 12:35

My head tells me he is selling Israel (and America with it) down the river. Yet there is nothing in the speech which is untenable. If President Obama only has such "sugary" remarks in his repetoire, then we are all in for tragic and heart-wrenching times. On the other hand if -- like the iron first in the velvet glove -- he as a "spine of steel" as Joe biden maintained, then something good may come of having made the overutre. Foolish Hope? Time will tell.
