Obama and The Second ComingReader comment on item: Assessing Obama's Cairo Speech Submitted by Salah Ali (Norway), Jun 4, 2009 at 14:23 This is a ... view of Obama's speech and of the way arab mind works. To an Arab words matter very much. History has much to tell on this particular point: Lawrence of Arabia had won and been won to the Arabs and to Arabs by words. The essence of The Holy Qur'an is Arabic and what Obama said wins the Arab hearts. The problem with the Western mind is that it is so wrapped around the kernel of its own preconceptions. You deny to give the other its due. You deny even those people from among you who try to understand islam and see the other side of our mind, if you take it for granted that we hold certain negative views. It is sad indeed that you undervalue such open-minded address that didn't play down the right of all nations to coexist in peace, dialogue and cooperation. Compare him with ... Bush ... That man introduced terror and destruction while obama calls for dialogue and promised the withdrawal of the invading armies. He is rational because he doesn't preach violence while the warmongers on both sides: Israeli Zionists and fanatic Moslems preach death, each motivated and fueled by the other. Obama attempts at putting all the facts before contenders in the Middle East. His speech is as accurate as a logical equation. If you want peace and co-existence, then you should not slay the other party. All or most the Arabs welcome Obama's speech. it addresses our mind and it addresses justice. I expect certain Jews who still turn deaf ears to the sound of reason will recruit their supporters in the USA and Europe to attack Obama and downgrade him. This just will show who doesn't want peace to prevail. Who wants to continue selling weapons on war, and who is the real villain in the Middle East. Accordingly, Obama's speech is a quiz. He called for Israel to halt illegal usurpation of lands that do not belong to them, and to stop expansion in Jerusalem. He is a man to respect by the righteous, and for that we Arabs and Moslem hail him as our hero and nobleman of the 21st Century. He is Jesus Christ coming back to the world to adjust balances and establish justice. The West should feel proud of Obama for He is now on top of the Administration of a country which we were all admiring as the land for freedom and human rights but which has unfortunately been turned into a jungle of monsters and killers under the blind leadership of hooligans such as the neocons and Bush. Obama is not there in Egypt to sweeten the bitter pill as you say.He is there because he understands that we are all human beings living in the same world and suffering the same problems. that man needs hope, food and self-respect and that there are those perverse and selfish from among us who want to monopoly everything to them. the preachers of hatred. The speech is also a chance to Israel to accept co-existence or get ready to a final holocaust that annihilate everyone. ... Every man with a live conscience detest the killing of children, of stealing the life of the others, of sending them to rot in jails.. to invade them and remove their established order, to force government system on them, to hoodwink them by abstractions and false concepts that are unapplicale to them as democracy, women-lib and gay marriage. Live and leave others to live. This is an American saying and Obama just repeats his basic learning. salah ali Norway
