Reader comment on item: America's Crash Course on Islam

Dr. Pipes raises the really big issue. Is Islam capable of a reformation like the one that set Christianity on the path of modernity? If reformation is possible, then a Mohammed "Luther" will most likely come out of North Central Asia or possibly Iran with its Persian roots. He definitely will not come out of Arab or Pakistani culture.

These cultures have long ago passed the point of reformation or should I perhaps say, redemption.
