Selective guilt

Reader comment on item: [Looting:] An Iraqi Tragedy

Submitted by A. M. Berlin (Canada), Apr 27, 2003 at 11:53

It is interesting to note that Hamid Dabashi and other Hamid Dabashis did not raise voices of protest at the wanton destruction of the ancient, priceless Bamiyan statues in Afghanistan, destroyed by a muslim governement, in the name of Islam. On the contrary. We heard that the the destruction was quite consistent with the teachings of Islam, and therefore fully justified.

It is also interesting to note that the protesters and accusers carefully avoid any mention that the looters and destroyers were Iraqis and NOT the *invading infidels*. So what is the big deal? Why should we *infidels* shed a tear?

These examples in bestiality do follow a consistent pattern, as demonstrated in the Bamiyan valley in Afghanistan, in the looting and destruction of the cultural heritage of Kuwait, and now in Baghdad itself.

And in a further demonstration of the *pattern*, never ever face up to your own shortcomings, always blame someone else, the infidels, the Christians, the Jews......
