For whom the bells toll

Reader comment on item: Strange Logic in the Lebanon War

Submitted by GF (India), Aug 27, 2006 at 02:56

The Kandahar hijack at the dead-end of 1999 has remained a deep scar on the collective Indian psyche, compelled to compromise with the terrorists who were hell-bent on destroying India, while the world and its media machine was busy preparing to celebrate Y2K -- the turn of the New Millennium, which seems to have augured in the era of body parts. The last shot after the Indian media frenzy following the hijack, was of the hijackers and freed terrorists from Indian jails in Kashmir riding away into the desert sunset, leaving a shattered nation in the east to pick up the pieces of its wounded dignity.

India has fought this evil alone for six decades since its partition and the creation of the new Islamist entity of Pakistan -- carved out of its own boundaries -- with a most deadly spurt in terrorism after the dogs of the Cold War turned savagely upon Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Muslim-majority state that had enjoyed relative peace and prosperity until then!

Jihadi tribesmen were armed to teeth with sophisticated western weaponry, and world media turned a deaf ear to the plaintive cries of the Afghan women to begin with, against the savagery let loose upon civil society and the women especially by the Taliban -- fully backed by the Pakistan government. --Until 9/11, that is, and once again the Talibanis are on ascendancy there, given renewed support of the ISI!

At this point, the world media is well aware that Osama and cohorts are hiding not in Afghanistan, but in the Waziristan region of Pakistan, and every Wanted Islamist -- hunted by World governments for crimes against humanity -- is being quietly shifted to the same inaccessible locale by the Pakistan government. Such folk include the top leadership of Al Qaida; Omar Shaikh -- accused for the killing of Daniel Pearl and also thought to be the mastermind of 7/7; Dawood Ibrahim -- the Indian narcoterrorist now with a Pakistani passport, who controls the worldwide hawala traffic, mastermind of 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai; and the latest, Rashid Rauf -- mastermind of the airlines plot.

This whole bloodthirsty caboodle is serviced with advanced techno-weapons and communications infrastructure by the Pakistan government, of which the ISI is such an integral part. Yet the West is somnolent in its belief that Musharraf alone makes Pakistan, convinced as it is that he is not a part of the Taqqiya ratchet of Islam! Providing more weapons and planes to Pakistan is like willfully sliding blindfolded on a route to the abyss for the civilised world, reaping its own whirlwind of foolishness that didn't stop with 9/11.

Western analysts have missed the import of former ISI-Chief Hamid Gul's interviews, that it no longer interests the jihadis to destroy India wholesale with sophisticated weapons from the West, since they must think of Indian Muslims too! The weapons and planes are for Israel and the West, Honey!
