Reader comment on item: Strange Logic in the Lebanon War

Submitted by Jay (United States), Aug 16, 2006 at 00:26

Strange logic in the Lebanon war is an understatement. Very strange logic is still to mild. Nothing about this war made any sense. Where to start?

Lebanon is a country that has Hezbollah as an active part of its fabric. So true that they are elected members of government. This one third of Lebanon attacks Israel and Lebanon cries its not us, and pleads for a cease fire. Upon being absent as a government in security matters for six years and 15,000 missiles,Lebanon claims that it couldnt stop the Hezbollah part of themselves before, but insists that beginning today, they will secure the south of the country, while cheering hezbollah for protecting Lebanese soil.

Lebanon cheered and shot fireworks for hezbollah who brought on the death of 150 Israelis and 1,000 Lebanese. Strange? Lets continue. The United Nations who for six years didnt utter a peep as 15,000 missiles went right through their legs in south Lebanon, pointed at Israel, cried to Israel that after six or ten phone calls to the Jewish state, the imperfect Israeli military didnt do enough to protect the UN observers observing apparently nothing. After six years of observing nothing and preventing even less, this New York body rushed into Israeli condemnation with a few Hezbollah words sprinkled in, and resolved that the time is now for the UN to get involved. Strange?

Lets continue. While everyone agrees that Iran and Syria are the facilitator and instigator of everything from start to finish,no mention of either country seems to be in any text of the recent UN resolution on the conflict.Thats neither country or either country. Strange? After about an hour and a half of faulting hezbollah for the conflict, the Arabs as represented by their Arab league removed the word hezbollah and inserted the word Israel as to the culprits of this civilian war and occupiers of lands. What a surprise.Strange. A bit more.

Israel, whose minister of defence Peretz came from the resume building field of head of the countrys largest labor federation, has along with his collegues invented a new and unpowerful form of warfield. Its called star wars missle defence for missles on the ground.Israel goal was to avoid everything but miisles on the ground. Its missle for missle.Missle for launcher. Here and their Israel will play peek a boo with soldiers, to lose fifteen at a time and withdraw. And when Israel's missiles miss the target or hit the target, depending on your pleasure, in comes the olympic syle, world series, super bowl and world match press corp to misreport what they have seen, doctored photos and all. So hezbollah has now claimed they are the victims and victors. And the press, hoping to be invited to the next show, writes it all. Isnt this great?

Strange logic in Lebanon? No.Not just Lebanon. From Palestine to Iraq to Iran, everything in the middle east has become a warped free for all. Press corp and all.
