Reader comment on item: Strange Logic in the Lebanon War

Submitted by Vijay (United Kingdom), Aug 16, 2006 at 03:52

The Independent from Britain has been a rabid Israel-baiter and correspondingly pro-Hezbollah, pro-Islamofascist, pro-Assad and pro-Arabic.

It has decided that Israel has lost the war. It's headline on the 15th screamed "Israel's verdict: We lost the war ". What is the basis? Israel Ehud Olmert, the Israeli Prime Minister, was obliged to admit "shortcomings" in the 34-day-old conflict in Lebanon

The destruction of life and property in Lebanon without any battle aims by Hezbollah would have testified to the defeat of Lebanon which was dragged into an war by Hezbollah. On the contrary. For the certified Israel hater like Robert Fisk, the destruction in Lebanon points to - hold your breath - Israel's defeat. Common sense would indicate that if a country is devastated in a war in which it's army was not involved would point to it's loss of soverignty and a moral defeat

Fisk is living in his own fairy world; but the fact is, much of the western and non-western media is dominated by Robert Fisks. Welcome to the media world of Newspeak
