How can Israel's goal be clear when Bush back in the US, was holding the reins. It was a long-distance controlled war, in which possibly Israeli leaders had no heart. It was not Israel's war. It was a proxy war on behalf of Bush and Cheney. And they both have outdone Bud Abbott and Costello, in their team work to stage a farce of a war in Iraq as well as in Lebanon. Only this was not any silver screen comedy. It cost human lives.
