If Israel was grandstanding, then it was like the proverbial tree in the forest.Reader comment on item: Strange Logic in the Lebanon War Submitted by Dr RJP (United States), Sep 17, 2006 at 12:10 The ONLY reason why Israel would leave a Hezbollah rocket battery in place was because of how deeply entrenched it was within a civilian center. If Israel acted and thought like Hezbollah, then nothing would have been left standing. Given how completely the Western media ignored the death, pain, and destruction going on in Israel, even if Israel had tried to win converts to its cause by deliberately leaving missles untouched, nobody would have photographed it or reported on it, and Israel knew it. It is absolutely ridiculous and absurd to compare the tactics of Hezbollah versus Israel: Israel couldn't falsify information to save its life....literally. No matter what Israel did, those on the Left saw it as either deliberate (killing civilians) or bogus (launching inquiries into civilian deaths). For the left of me, I cannot understand how people can draw any parallels between an enemy whose sworn duty is to lie and deceive with a country that has an open media and practices public accountability -- even if their elected officials try to avoid them. On the other hand, when one begins with the premise that Muslims can do no wrong and Jews can do no right, there is little room for debate.
