meaning of the "religion of peace"

Reader comment on item: "At War with Islamic Fascists"
in response to reader comment: Religion of Peace

Submitted by Concerned European (Lithuania), Aug 16, 2006 at 04:15

Muslims call Islam "religion of peace", because in the opinion of many of them only Islam, being adopted by everyone in the world can bring peace, because it is, as they think, the only ideology which in harmony with the Creator's will, while as long as there is disbelief(kufr), it means the views that oppose Islam, there will be always conflict. So that "religion of peace" is calling for the eradication of all views different from Islam. Certainly this totalitarian outlook could be hardly, if at all, attributable to Sufis, or conservative rural Muslims in general but it is certainly held by large proportion of religiously active, young urban Muslims today
