in response to reader comment: Please Read Qur'an

I doubt very much that you have read that much. For if you had, you would have known that the Quran was put into print within 30 years after the death of Muhammad (PBUH). Ok, lets say that you have, for arguments sake, you clearly have not read the books that should make you understand the Quran. The Quran is not a mystery, many non muslims understand it perfectly well, it just you and many other people like you find it hard to grasp.

Suppose I give you a car with its blueprints, you would not be able to know what do to with it without its instructions and manuals. Same as the Quran, you must know how to understand it. That is why many scholars have given their explanations, try Ibn Kathir's Tafsir of Quran. An explanation of every verse of the Quran. Sometimes utilising 50 pages on just one chapter of 7 verses. They lead the way of understand for the muslims at large. You on the otherhand use your own intellect, which results in your own opinion very different to ours. In that case there shall always remain a difference.

How about the Hadiths, there are 6 main books which are considered by scholars to be authentic, from Bukhari to Ibn Majah, I doubt again that you have read all 6 books, which have altogether more than the 93 chapter you went on about.

Islam believes in justice, it is not like Christianity where if one slaps you offer them the other cheek. Its about morality, just like the USA and every other nation that has a military believes in arming themselves incase of an attack. Islam has the option to use military if it requires the will.

Now you very clearly link Islam with terrorism, What Bin Laden done is take an opinion of a scholar who is the minority amongst the Ulema and used it in his liking. You must not use that and proclaim that Islam is to blame. Now not all scholars are equal, they have their differences, but it is all within the framework of Islam, but some can fall beyond that framework, could be due to lack of knowledge or personal desires, however they should never be taklen a majority opinion. There are close to 2 billion Muslims on Earth, how many people are killing innocent civilians, and how many are not. That will give you an idea of how many people takes who's opinion.

What I think you should do it try and limit your readings on how non muslims try to explain the Qur'an and increase on your readings on how muslims explain the quran. Here are some names, Ibn Kathir, Ibn Taymiyyah, Qurthubi, At Tabarani; some to start you with.

"Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to an agreement between us and you: that we shall worship none but Allah, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside Allah. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto Him)." The Holy Qur'an [3:64]
