This is nothing new in our world. The Roman church demolished the holy sights of my ancestors and built their churches on them, Virtually every Christian church and cathedral in Western Europe is built on a sight formerly used by my folk as a religious pilgrimage or holy sight. And the world thinks we have forgotten this! Right!
