Islamic Fascists or Islamists

Reader comment on item: "At War with Islamic Fascists"

Submitted by Chris Chrisman (United States), Aug 14, 2006 at 13:44

Based on the widespread outcry of apologists for the radical Muslim agenda, the term "islamic fascist" seems to register with them. There are two additional arguments for using this term: 1) Fascism generally involves a retrospective state of affairs drawn from the glorious past, e.g., the Salafi Califates, whereas Marxism-Leninism looked forward to a new, utopian state of affairs, and 2) when translating English into other languages prefixes and suffixes often do not translate well. Adjectives such as "Islamic," "Islamish," and "Islamist" don't have as much traction as a noun like "fascist." The ultimate goal of these columns and debates is to end the violent and destructive agenda that is eroding free societies. This will only happen when large numbers of Muslims are repulsed and revolted by the image conveyed by the term used to describe what is going on -- Islamic fascism.
